RELEASE WHITE PAPER ON ISI

Vacillating attitude of political leadership of our country over the years has been India's bane. This has hampered serious assessment of security needs and development of adequate military prowess to protect the sovereignty of our nation. The mindset of these leaders has been conditioned by the reactions from the hegemonist America. We are paying for our strategic blunders in Kashmir in 1947 and neglecting defence vis-à-vis China. Time and again it has been observed that a lobby has been active which has been trying to undermine the national security. Postures of moral romanticism in foreign policy and defence are traceable to the pressures for this lobby. So much so that even India is being blamed for the stand off with Pakistan, overlooking the latter's consistent attempts to export cross-country terrorism to destabilize India. This lobby has been pleading apologetic approaches on Kashmir and opposing country's nationalist assertion on crucial issues of internal and external security. When BJP assumed the reigns of power, Indian people looked to it as a change of regime so far as national security was concerned. BJP's commitments to nuclear program and determination to counter ISI game strengthened this perception. The events which followed the eighth round of Talbott-Jaswant talks have become a matter of concern. Pressures started building on government in Delhi to again freeze its nuclear program and cap its missile development. India is also being advised to withhold the release of white paper on ISI activities in the country. It is being argued that it will effect the spirit of Lahore declaration. This declaration has not restrained Pakistan from active baiting of India in Geneva launching assaults on Indian positions in Siachin and pushing more and more infiltrators, many of inducting of highly sophisticated weaponry is meant to upgrade the proxy-war. For nearly two decades Pakistan has been trying to destabilise different parts of India through terrorist violence, internal subversion, spreading social disaffection and economic sabotage. ISI moles have made their presence felt in media, administration, Mafia and in sections of political establishment. As part of strengthening our internal security it becomes mandatory to make the nation aware about Pakistan's game plan and mobilize it for countering ISI activities. The external security is always the extension of internal security. Mounting nationalist assertion has ended BJP's dithering on Agni-II. Now it is morally indefensible for the government to with hold the release of white paper of ISI |
